Clockit Live
A recording studio made of the laptop and phones you already own, in the browser. Record from every angle, cut between them as you go, add your screen, and post it to TikTok, Reels, Shorts or YouTube, without the expensive kit and without the footage leaving your machine until you say so.
Clockit Live, in beta: a multi-camera video studio for creators, running entirely in the browser.
About this project
Clockit Live turns the laptop and phones a creator already owns into a recording studio, and saves the time and money a real one would cost. Press record and the frame is whatever you put in it: your camera, your shared screen beside it or behind it, and up to five phones standing around the room as extra angles. Nobody signs in on a phone. You scan a code on the laptop and the phone is in the picture.
With more than one close-up, the frame follows whoever is talking, cutting to the person speaking and going wide on silence or crosstalk. Friends can join by link and watch the frame exactly as it is being recorded, with their voices in the take.
After the take, the cutting room lets you trim, speed up, add captions and lay a sound under it, and every change is reversible. Export renders in your own browser in a minute or two, then goes straight to your socials.
What is in it
- One frame, however many sources. Your camera, your shared screen and your phones all land in one picture as you record, with background blur and a few looks, so there is nothing to line up afterwards.
- Phones as cameras. Scan a code with up to five phones and stand them around the room. Each one is another angle, recorded at the phone's own quality and kept with the take.
- Follow the talker. With more than one close-up, the frame cuts to whoever is speaking and goes wide on silence or crosstalk, automatically.
- Watch parties. Send a link and up to six friends are in the picture with you, each seeing the frame exactly as it is being recorded.
- A take you cannot lose. The recording is saved as it is made, on every device, and keeps going if you switch tabs, if a phone reloads, or if the connection drops.
- The cutting room and export. Cut, trim, speed, loudness, captions and a sound bed, all reversible. Press an angle to cut to it at that moment. Render in the browser and post.
- The live wall. An event everyone joins with a QR code, shooting on their own phones, playing on the big screen as it happens, with an album afterwards. A take from the studio can be posted straight onto its wall.
Why we built it
Creators want multi-angle video, and the usual way to get it is a second camera, a capture card, a desktop editor and an afternoon of lining up clips. Most of them already carry two or three cameras in their pocket and bag. Clockit Live's bet is that the browser can now do the whole job, from capture to cut to render, and that the footage should stay on your own devices until you decide to post.
My role
I founded Clockit Live and build it end to end: the product, the recording and editing experience, the brand and the plans. The web app is Next.js with TypeScript and the API is FastAPI.
